Ask and Embla

On the shore lay Ask and Embla,
without consciousness and without fate;
that´s how the Aesir found the two there.
Soul gave Odin, desire to seek,
Thor gave stamina, power and strenght,
Freya gifted them passion,
Hönir gave consciousness and every sense,
Blood gave Lodur, fair color and hue,
Frigga gave patience and intuition,
Frey awoke them to lust and desire.
Thus all the Aesir gifted the two,
thus brought the Vanir weal to mankind.
And he that hears them and follows their call
is called a child of the Gods.
