Cloud-Spinner
Her stepson herds the cloud-sheep to pasture
And as they pass, she snatches wool
From their floating sides, to flow through
Her slender fingers, to make a thread
More fair than any crafted by the Norns.
Their loom is battle-weighted with skulls,
Hers with seeing crystals that she might know
What is, and yet never speak those truths
Save to her one-eyed husband in their bed,
Lying on linen woven of the cloud-sheep
Whose silent ears will never tell
The songs of wisdom worn by her,
Queen of the Realms of Sky and Flight,
Who gentles war and darkness every night.
