From Slumber, Awake!

The light has lengthened, the day now becomes longer,
Sunna shines from above, radiating heat much stronger.
The Earth has softened from Sunna's mighty power,
Deep in the soil seeds split, soon to flower.

The birds have returned from their long winter rest,
With incredible precision they find last year's nest.
In a ritual that is ancient, they court and they mate,
With each taking a turn on their eggs as they wait.

Creatures in burrows, dug deep in the ground,
Hidden from predators, in slumber not found.
They emerge from their dens searching for food,
and look for a partner to start a new brood.

Yes, spring has arrived in all of its beauty,
A wonderful season, Earth's annual duty.
It's a time of beginnings, of renewal, and birth,
Life's magnificent re-awakening, on Great Mother Earth !
