Greybound Travel

God of Cargoes, Wandering One
Seeker of Lore, Wrighter of Wod
O'ersee our roads, guide our roaming
Help us strengthen, life mind and will

Ygg rode upon, the wind tossed tree
Traveling deep, down mist clad roots
Seeking to find, hoping to gain
Old, dark wisdom, to fend off woe

A bank of fog, across my path
Became a gate, to leave Midgard
A misty road, unto Bifrost
It rises up, I trek across

At Rainbow's end, stands Warder fair
As I walk past, Heimdall gives glance
A flick of eyes, and slightest nod
The way is clear, I stride ahead

A thick white cloud, envelops me
I stop to see, what sights I may
Muffled footsteps, come to my ear
A dark shape nears, it seems a man

His face is lined, but also young
His hair is grey, of slatelike hue
His cloak is blue, like dawning sky
His hat brim hides, his eyes from mine

His head tilts up, I know him now
One eye is Ice, the other Flame
I see in Him, all that which IS
The weight of Wyrd, the weight of Fame

Huginn, Munnin, do now alight
In whispered words, tell news of worlds
Geri, Freki, come to his side
They stare at me, gauging my worth

Then All Wise shuts, His icebound eye
A spark flies out, from other orb
It leaves a trail, within the cloud
Burning red runes, risted in air

I see my name, among the staves
Some other words, I can make out
They are the names, of my Kinline
Fathers, Mothers, and Siblings all

The strength of them, is in my blood
Is in my heart, is in my mind
And at the head, of this long line
Are Holy Ones, who livened all

Then He does trade, Fire for Frost
Isa dances, like wind tossed snow
In swirling shapes, I see my home
My wife, my kin, my friends are there

A thought does come, into my mind
That best work is, before me now
To forge my words, and send them out
Unto Midgard, unto the Folk

Beauty in life, is a fine thing
Love and comfort, are goodly, too
What matters most, is duty done
Deeds in the Well, for Commonweal

The cloud does lift, I'm in my truck
Driving to work, as just before
I saw the fog, and entered in
Upon Midgard, unto Asgard

And in the space, of fifty feet
I wandered far, in blink of eye
And learned a bit, about myself
My heart, my words, where duty lies

God of Cargoes, Wandering One
Seeker of Lore, Wrighter of Wod
O'ersee our roads, guide our roaming
Help us strengthen, life mind and will

Ygg rode upon, the wind tossed tree
Traveling deep, down mist clad roots
Seeking to find, hoping to gain
Old, dark wisdom, to fend off woe
