Perthro

fate-cup
gambler´s turn of joy or sorrow
the choice made to submit to change,
change taking the stake of yourself

Perthro
birth-cup
genetic lots of chance
drawn from the dark whole of potential
into the specific commitment of the now

Perthro
the birthing
mother and child put at risk
the community trembles for loss or gain
Will the child to live,
will the child, living, bring feud of feasting,
each child a gamble to a small kin-group,
each new mouth a gift and a burden

Perthro
as the gods send it
a chance at changing wyrd,
at building a new coral-crust
on the pattern of great orlog
the gambler knows not
how great the gift of chance,
how much interest he attracts
as the dice
enter the darkness of the cup.
