Skathi

fierce crystal blue eyes
flowing white hair
she stands at the edge
of the winter kissed forest
bow in hand

at night the snow sparkles
a million tiny stars
a million tiny diamonds
silent, perfect

so few things in this world
are as pure as freshly fallen mountain snow
or as valuable as that which you have hunted
long and hard and won
this is her treasure

crashing wall of snow and ice
howling wolves, hungry for fresh flesh
slashing wind that takes away your breath
this is her treasure too

harsh realities
make us stronger
teach us how to live with passion
remind us that we are not separate or exempt
from nature

you may yearn for the warmth of the fire
but once full and rested
the heart of a hunter
can not help
but ache for her company...
