Stars

The blue of midnight echoes
pierced by your glittering glow.
A thousand jewels enchanting
as wistfully I wonder of long ago.

Hewn from the heavens
of glorious days gone by;
twinkling in the twilight
amidst an elder sky.

Did you shine upon the old ones?
Did you bathe their shrines with light?
Did you dance above the trees
in a grove of grim delight?

Did you sparkle high above
battlefields and broken blades?
gleaming for the carnage of crows
and the chosen of Odin's maids?

Did you witness the sacrifice
hanging from that old Ash Tree?
and did the eye that hung there
cast its gaze on thee?
