The Path

Treading down that path started so long ago
Where it leads I do not know
Fortune or failure, pleasure or pain
On this road they are all the same

It's a way most fear to tread
For to start it means you are dead
Each day brings debt, your breath not free
To see it end your only plea

Being one of his, Grimnir's chosen
The thought alone leaves most frozen
Others who bear the knot of nine
Accept they're living on borrowed time

You can but sigh and accept your fate
And hope to stand at Valhall's gate
The path you started so long ago
Where it leads you don't want to know.
