~ Poetry by me ~

Sound-Wise

I have heard it all.
Listen closely--
The echos of Ymir's roar
Reverberate still in the mountains.
The grass of centuries
Told me its stories.

My mind's ear remembers
The hiss of the first spear cast
The murmur of Mimir's well
Hangatyr's scream on the Tree
Bragi's music
Balder's last breath.

Witness I was
For prayers of mortals
And curses of gods,
Oaths spoken and broken,
Naglfar's hammering,
The heartbeat of worlds.

Then, all Hel breaking loose
Howling, crowing
Drowning in Gjallarhorn's sound
The deafening din of battle
And then, at last,
Silence.
