~ Poetry by me ~

 Warrior´s Welcome

My body fell as my spirit rose,
From wounded vessel soared my mind,
One brief look back without regret -
Both life and battle I left behind.

Suddenly silent the roar of fight;
Friends and foes faded from sight,
And a horse not my own carried me on
Away through a realm of night.

And far through the shadowy landscape
Shone brightly the hope of my heart,
Golden like fire of life-long desire,
Brave warriors´ rightful reward.

A splendid stronghold of staggering size
With shields for roof and spears for wall,
A blazing beacon, a peerless prize:
The home of heroes, Herjan´s Hall.

Valkyries welcome, Wish-maidens here
Hail me with mead-horn held high,
The crowd of my kinfolk with clamorous cheer
Shouts triumph and joy to the sky.

Together with foes that we fought in our life
At the feast we share tables and meat,
Till we feel the old war-lust stir us to strife,
Har´s madness that burns like his mead.

We burst from the benches and battle all day,
And slain, we arise; the dead do not die;
Till we prove our valor in Ragnarok´s fray
We´ll keep feasting and fighting for aye.
