Counting Rhyme for Magpies

One for mourning sorrow,
Two for laughing mirth,

For three a brave jarl's barrow,
For four an easy birth,

Five for shining Asgard
Lofting overhead,
Six for howling jotuns
Filling men with dread;

Seven for a cursed ring
In a dragon's hoard of gold;
Eight for Hella's dismal realm
Filled with mist and cold;

Nine for proud Midgard,
Restless in its strife;
Ten for Yggdrasil's secrets
Bound tight in the tree of life.
