For As I Lay to Slumber

For as I lay to slumber in my bed,
The gods surround me,
Loki light the darkest corner, nightmares are no more!
Thor with his might hammer smashes monsters at the door!
Frigga spins a blanket to comfort me in sleep,
And Papa Odin he sings to me, and rocks me in my sleep!

The handmaidens surround me, and watch the bedroom door,
Hel guards under me, and watches through the floor,
Freyja sends me fireflies to guard my windowsill,
And all the gods watch over me, as I lay still

I shall not fear,
When they are near,
And know they hear my call,
For in the night I hear them say,
Little one, have no fear,
For all are here, and here we’ll stay,
As long as your asleep will watch the night away,
And in the morning when the sun does rise,
You know we were here when you open your eyes,
For there in the sky is the mark of our visit,
The sun rising up to great you each day,
Is a sign we were with you through the darkest of nights,
And so each time you sleep under the moon, remember we are with you by the lights in your room,
For they are reminders of the light in the sky, keeping you warm in the night, in the dark,
Never fear little one, we are always with you…in the light…in the dark…always surround you and guard your heart!
