Great Huntress Skadi

Strong and proud she stands alone,
A skilled hunter in a frigid zone.
Among the mountains of her father's land,
Far, far away from the hated beach strand.

The tracks are fresh the game is very near,
The hoofprints shape tells of reindeer.
She follows closely, keeping Her prey in sight,
A distant brown image, against the snow's white.

She stalks like a wolf, wary and hush,
Through great pines, and thorny brush.
Closer and closer She approaches Her prey,
The reindeer has no chance of getting away.

She strings the bow, and takes careful aim,
The arrow takes flight, it's target the game.
Her sight was perfect, it pierced through the heart,
Killed in an instant by the great hunter's dart.

Wolves started howling from on top of a hill,
Great Huntress Skadi would give them their fill.
By a great fire alone She would eat,
With all of her wolves asleep at her feet.
