Balder

Balder, åh, Balder, du dør fra os,
guderne græder i kor.
Balder, åh, Balder, du fødes hos os,
her, hvor mennesker gror.

Blindhed, åh, blindhed jog dig bort,
derfra hvor guderne bor.
Seende – det har jorden gjort –
blev du, hvor mennesker tror.

Balder og Nanna, det kæreste par,
har ikke hjemme i Hel.
Balder og Nanna som boliger har
selve min jordiske sjæl.

A Song of Balder

Balder, oh Balder, you die in our midst,
The Gods are weeping in chorus.
Balder, oh Balder, you are born with us,
here, where mankind is growing.

Blindness, oh, blindness drove you away
from where the Gods are dwelling.
Seeing - that was the doing of Earth -
you became where people believe.

Balder and Nanna, his lovely spouse,
are not at home in Hel.
Balder and Nanna truly have
as their house my earthly soul.
